#16 - Kilauea Volcano, Hawaii
Geni sent me this amazing card, capturing an eruption from Kilauea Volcano in Hawaii.
This volcano is the youngest volcano on Hawaii and it is at present time, the most active volcano in the world. In Hawaiian, Kilauea translates to "much spreading"; it's a fitting name considering it's lava flow stretches 11 km before it reaches the sea.
In fact, the volume of material erupted from this volcano? It can pave a road around the world....THREE TIMES!
Local belief says the Goddess Pele causes the eruptions when she becomes angry. (Clearly, someone has anger management issues.)
I'd recommend keeping Pele calm before all of Hawaii is covered in Lava. Send her some love and candy, better yet, send her a postcard too....just in case.

You could also ask for one card from every state in the United States.
ReplyDeleteI have a list of 283 places around the world I'm trying to collect a stamped postcard from. I have 158 so far. Here is a link if you would like to see the cards...

If you open it up to one from every state, let me know, I'll send you one from Florida :)
